Starfield comes to PS5 on April 8

It was bound to happen, we basically already knew it was happening, but now it’s officially happening – Bethesda’s crowning sci-fi RPG is headed to PlayStation 5.

Launching on April 7 (time zones permitting), Starfield will arrive on Sony’s PS5 touting all of the improvements and updates made to the game since it released for Xbox and PC in 2023, plus it’ll coincide with the debut of a new Free Lanes update for all platforms, adding a bunch of of new content and improvements. Further to that, a new paid story DLC titled Terran Armada will also land on all platforms including the PS5.

Starfield Free Lanes update – what’s included?

The Free Lanes update for Starfield, which launches on all platforms alongside the PS5 release of the game at no extra cost, includes:

  • Cruise Mode –  Travel from planet to planet within a star system, experience frequent encounters and activities and spend some quality time on your ship with your crew
  • New Locations – A number of new Encounters, POIs, Dungeons, notable increase in variety for players to discover
  • X-Tech – A new resource used to upgrade weapons, ship modules, and more.
  • Enemy Modifiers – New enemy tiers with performance modifiers, such as extra shielding, more frequent attacks, or elemental damage.
  • Moon Jumper – New land vehicle.
  • Outpost Improvements – Cross-outpost storage & Milliewhale pet.
  • New Crew – Muria and the mini-bot.
  • Starborn Improvement – Ability to bring a limited number of items through the Unity to a New Game Plus.

Terran Armada story DLC

The Terran Armada story expansion for Starfield contains a brand new story to play through, where players will meet a new threat to the Settled Systems that believe themselves the ‘true’ children of Earth. You’ll also meet a new companion, a reprogrammed Terran Armada robot named Delta.

The DLC also adds Incursions, which are high-stakes battles with the Terran Armada that can be anything from a small scuffle to a massive infiltration mission, and you’ll find these out in the Settled Systems – either on purpose or with little choice.

There’ll also be new ships and ship parts, new gear, new outposts and outpost decorations and more as part of the DLC package. Here’s a trailer for Free Lanes and Terran Armada:
