Belkin’s new Switch 2 charging grip looks like another winner

With the Nintendo Switch 2 having recently celebrated its first birthday, my personal console has been going strong since day one inside what is still one of the best carry cases around, the Belkin Switch 2 Gaming Charging Case – though a more recent version has since launched that I’ll likely update to at some point.

So with that in mind, any new Switch 2 accessory announcements from Belkin are guaranteed to get my attention. Case in point, the company’s new Charging Grip for Nintendo Switch 2, a slick-looking attachment that not only adds ergonomic comfort to the Switch 2 in handheld mode but also provides extra juice via a magnetically-attached powerbank.

It’d be easy to look at Belkin as just another tech accessory manufacturer looking to cash in on the popularity of Nintendo’s latest hybrid handheld (and it’s also true), but it’s the thoughtfulness of the designs that make this line-up genuinely interesting. The Charging Grip is not only designed to allow players to snap the Joy-Con controllers on and off without having to remove the console shell, it’s also completely compatible with the console’s official dock. These are things I can’t say about the CRKD console grip I was using with my original Switch, or really any of the Switch 2 “grip” type products I’ve seen so far.

You can get the Belkin Grip for Nintendo Switch 2 with or without the charging component, at a pretty stark difference of $149.95 vs $49.95, so if the extra power doesn’t bother you or you already have another power bank (albeit one that isn’t designed to magnetically attach to this specific case and doesn’t come in the same cute colours), you could safely save yourself $100. I definitely wish I’d had the bonus power on my flight to LA for Summer Game Fest.

Alongside the grip/s, Belkin also announced a neat Travel Bag for Nintendo Switch 2 that’s available in the same Black, Lavender or Olive hues and is a cross-body bag that holds your Switch 2 and games, and even has room for a pair of Pro Controllers, a power bank and your phone among its multiple pockets. This one retails for $54.95, which is honestly not too bad.
