Just in time for Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) and PAX Aus 2026, Fortnite has dropped a new set of gear in the Item Shop that brings one of Australia’s most beloved modern video game icons to the ever-popular battle royale shooter for the first time – Hollow Knight.
Available as of this morning, Fortnite players can now pick up The Knight themselves as a sidekick character, along with a Hallownest Grub back bling and a The Knight’s Nail pickaxe. That’s three new ways to show your love for Team Cherry’s pair of insect-scale metroidvanias, should you wish to fork out the V-Bucks for them.
The highlight is obviously The Knight as a sidekick – if you’re not a regular Fortnite player, sidekicks are small characters that run around the map alongside you and occasionally react to things, though for obvious reasons they’re only visible to you and your squad mates. It’ll set you back a pretty sum at 1500 V-Bucks, or you can get it in a bundle with the other two items for 2000 V-Bucks, which is either roughly $30 or $40 without factoring in currency bundles and discounts. Like other sidekicks, The Knight also comes with some exclusive quests to complete for additional rewards, like an extra cosmetic style (pictured), so you at least get a little extra gameplay out of it.
Whether or not you’re into the idea of Fortnite and spending real money on in-game items, having Hollow Knight make an appearance is certainly cool to see as a fan of the local game development industry. And let’s face it, Hollow Knight and its sequel are world-class hits, so it was only a matter of time!
