Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment may have just dropped a huge final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and confirmed more of the sequel film’s cast including Donald Glover as Yoshi, but the fun isn’t over yet.
Also here is a new official website for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, dubbed the Gateway Galaxy, which seems innocuous enough as an interactive “experience” promoting the movie but actually holds some surprises.
Arriving at the Gateway, you’ll notice your guide is everyone’s least favourite retro Nintendo robot companion, R.O.B., who on this page not only acts as a pseudo-chatbot advisor but who narrates your introduction to the portal. Yes, R.O.B. speaks! Give it a look and listen:
The website is full of other neat details to pore over, like a Lost and Found section with some mysterious items left behind by other travellers, as well as a list of boarding times to all of the worlds it connects to – which we can probably look at as a kind of confirmation of which worlds will feature in the movie. Here’s what’s listed:
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Worlds
- Mushroom Kingdom
- Honeyhive Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy)
- Fossil Falls (Super Mario Odyssey)
- Comet Observatory (Super Mario Galaxy)
- Tostarena Town (Super Mario Odyssey)
- Drip Drop Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy)
- Space Junk Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy)

Not all of them are available yet, but clicking through to those that are gives you some extra still from the film, a bit of info and some downloadable desktop and mobile wallpapers.
Interestingly, the website also features two secondary area accessed by scrolling upwards or downwards a few times. At the top, this menacing-looking world shrouded in shadow but definitely very Bowser-esque.

And at the bottom, depicted in the Casino Galaxy, is a slot machine with a sign that reads “Closed For Maintenance” and can’t be interacted with, while R.O.B. tell us he’s unable to enter and offers the option to go back. There doesn’t seem to be anything else to do or interact with in either of these, but no doubt they’ll be updated soon enough.

Bowser’s Art
The final secret that we’ve found on the Gateway Galaxy website is via some secret codes that appear in a ticker bar across the bottom of the page. Mousing over some of these reveal worlds which, when punched into R.O.B.’s little chat box in the corner, open up some fun secret art. You might recognise some of these from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailers, painted by the Bowsers themselves:

And most importantly, there’s a button on the site to take you straight to ticketing information so you can snap up day one seats for when The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on April 1!
