Here’s a new look at Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, the game’s first simultaneous global release

The Pokémon Trading Card Game turns 30 this year, having originally launched in Japan in October 1996, and to celebrate that massive milestone a very exciting new set is on the way.

Pokémon TCG’s 30th Celebration expansion is launching on September 16, 2026, and it’s doing so on the same day across the globe, marking the TCG’s first-ever simultaneous worldwide release.

To get those appetites for shiny cardboard into gear ahead of time, The Pokémon Company has just dropped a fresh look at the expansion, showing off a heap of new cards and detailing what players and collectors can expect from booster packs. This should prove to be an exciting one for fans, with every card in every booster being foil, right down to the Basic Energy, as well as the guarantee of a Pikachu card bearing one of 30 possible unique illustrations.

You can see here the three that have been revealed so far, featuring art from OKACHEKE, Yuu Nishida, and Atsuko Nishida.

A new “Futuristic Rare” card rarity will also debut, including these very slick-looking Mew ex and Mewtwo ex cards with illustrations from visionary Japanese artist, YOSHIROTTEN:

Across the rest of the set, expect a spread of Pokémon from various regions across the franchise’s history, as well as some fun reprints spanning the annuls of the Pokémon TCG.

Each booster pack of Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration will contain five foil cards, a single foil Basic Energy and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. Take a look at the new promo video for Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration below:

And, uh, good luck on launch day!
