Summer Game Fest has come back around for another year, and 2026’s event was a packed two hours of reveals, re-reveals, updates and plenty of surprises.
While you can go literally anywhere on the internet to find a complete breakdown of what was shown, we figured why not curate a short list of what we think were the most interesting announcements and trailers of the show. Perhaps, you’ll agree, perhaps you won’t, but let’s take a look at just 10 of the titles featured live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and beamed across the globe.
We’re also at Summer Game Fest Play days in LA right now, checking out some of the upcoming titles in person, so keep this page handy or follow our social links at the bottom to see more as it happens.
The 10 most exciting Summer Game Fest 2026 announcements
FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION ASKS “WHERE WE DROPPIN’, CLOUD?”
To cap off today’s stacked Summer Game Fest 2026 showcase, host Geoff Keighley invited Square Enix’s Naomi Hamaguchi to introduce a title that fans have been long waiting to see for the first time – the final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, titled Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
And it’s not all that far off, due to launch in US “Spring” 2027, or our “Autumn” here in Australia, so between March and May. Better yet, this time around the game will be launching on all platforms simultaneously – PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC – no doubt possible due to Square’s ongoing work in porting the previous two games to all of the above.
RESIDENT EVIL VERONICA IS MISSING A CODE WORD
Capcom’s long-rumoured and anticipated remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica has finally been announced, with a simplified (and honestly much better) title of Resident Evil Veronica.
The reveal trailer does a lot to not give away its origins right away, looking enough like a modern Resident Evil game but not obviously a Code Veronica project. That is, until Claire Redfield is revealed.
The game is coming to all major platforms – PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC – in 2027.
GEN ATLAS IS FUMITO UEDA’S NEW GAME ABOUT COLOSS…AL ROBOTS
After previously revealing his new project at Geoff Keighley’s show under the codename Project Robot, Fumito Ueda (creator of Shadow of the Colossus, ICO and The Last Guardian) returned to finally give us the proper title and a new look at the game.
Launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Epic) at an undisclosed time in the future, gen ATLAS looks unmistakably like an Ueda joint but with a few things we haven’t seen from the creator before – like third-person combat with futuristic firearms. You’ll also seemingly pilot a giant robot head and attach it to different big robots to get around or fight other big robots. I’m immensely intrigued:
THE WOLF AMONG US 2 IS BACK, BIGBY!
Spotting a few Telltale employees around the Dolby Theatre lobby before SGF 2026 kicked off, I immediately got my hopes up that we’d see The Wolf Among Us 2 return to the spotlight after a couple of years of silence, and boy did we get that.
A new trailer for the game debuted, setting the stage for the long-awaited sequel and affirming a release window of 2027. And in addition, a remaster of the original game is headed to modern platforms in the holiday season this year, just in time for fans and newcomers to refresh or get acquainted with the story ahead of the second entry.
HOT WHEELS INFINITE RUSH LOOKS LIKE “MY FIRST FORZA HORIZON”
The Hot Wheels Unleashed games are sorely under-appreciated, so it’s great to see that Milestone hasn’t given up on bringing these iconic toys to life with thrilling arcade racing action. Hot Wheels Infinite Rush takes a pretty significant detour from those games though, swapping out the micro-scale tracks built around “real world” environments for a series of open worlds built to look like giant toy playsets.
Expect the usual open world racing bits with plenty of race types, side activities, collectibles and of course a huge assortment of Hot Wheels cars to amass – at least 150 at launch!
TMNT: THE LAST RONIN IS A PLATINUM JOINT
We first heard about a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game based on The Last Ronin comic miniseries around three years ago, at the time it was being billed as a God of War-inspired action game, but it wasn’t much more clear than that.
Fast forward to now, and a new teaser for the game has appeared at Summer Game Fest 2026, still keeping the game mostly under wraps but confirming that it’s being developed by none other than veteran third-person action studio, Platinum Games. Shell, yeah!
CROSSFIRE REALLY HAS THIS THIRD-PERSON SHOOTER THING COVERED
Quietly one of the coolest-looking games shown off during SGF 2026, Crossfire comes from some veteran devs with history at studios like Infinity Ward and Naughty Dog, so it’s unsurprising that it’s a story-driven third-person action game with an emphasis on tactical shooting.
The big-ticket feature here is an ambitious cover system that sees playable protagonist, Layla, automatically adapt her positioning to whatever cover the player guides her behind, fundamentally changing the relationship between the player and the environment. It’s probably going to be one we need to get our hands around to truly understand, but it sounds promising.
ALIEN ISOLATION 2 HAS COME BURSTING OUT
It’s been a long time coming, but Alien Isolation is back, and it looks like it’s going to be scarier than ever.
The debut reveal trailer for Alien Isolation 2 is but a tease, giving us a first glimpse into the harsh environment and absolutely menacing atmosphere of the Kurosaki Station outpost that this sequel is set in. Creative Assembly is promising new tools and tactics for players to utilise, and they’ll need to, with an even smarter xenomorph stalker and even less chance of survival.
No release window at all for this, but it’s coming to all modern platforms!
HAEX PUTS THE BRUTAL IN BRUTALISM
A completely new one from a new studio, HAEX has me hooked and I barely even understand what’s going on.
Billed as an open-world survival shooter for up to four players, this cube-obsessed sci-fi oddity seemingly has players reshaping the world using a magic Rubik’s to open up new, procedural areas. But with new terrain comes new threats, and jumping puzzles, I guess? I need to play this, I reckon. It’s launching in Early Access on PC next year.
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN IS LIVING UP TO ALL OF ITS NAME
I almost didn’t include this last title as an “exciting” Summer Game Fest feature, given the almost immediate discourse around what was actually announced here, but I guess it does still fit the term for better or worse.
Yes, RGG Studio has, for whatever reason, decided to cast Tupac to play a character in Stranger Than Heaven, digitally resurrecting the late rapper. It seems like Snoop Dogg, who is also in the game along with his son, is keen on being seen as the orchestrator of this one, but whatever the case – internet pundits are none too pleased. Which is a shame, because virtual taxidermal puppeteering aside the game looks shit-hot.
And that’s it for this list! There are plenty more great Summer Game Fest 2026 announcements I could have fit in, but thankfully you can go and watch the full show on replay right here, any time you want.
