The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting a Switch 2 remake in 2026

Yes, it’s finally happened. Following copious rumours, Nintendo has officially announced during today’s Nintendo Direct that one of gaming’s most cherished classics, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is getting the remake treatment on Nintendo Switch 2. And it’s coming this year.

Those expecting a big, blowout reveal, though, might be a little disappointed, as what was shown during the Direct amounted to some shots of a tapestry (in a bit of a reinvention of the Deku Tree’s intro to the game) and then around 20 seconds of Link sleeping in his bed, not unlike the beginning of the original. We see the Triforce symbol glow on the back of his hand and then… that’s it! Logo time!

Take a look at the reveal trailer below:

Nintendo is classically secretive, especially when it comes to The Legend of Zelda, but it does still seem quite odd that this is all we got, especially when the game is due out within the next six months. The visual style has also already divided fans, with the pseudo-realistic look feeling, to some, a less interesting result than what could have been.

Hopefully we’ll see more soon!
