God of War: Laufey releases on February 16, 2027, and the next game has already been announced

PlayStation and Santa Monica Studio have brought a double-whammy of God of War announcements to an official San Diego Comic-Con panel today, not only announcing the release date for the recently-revealed God of War: Laufey but also giving us a tease into what’s next for the franchise after it.

First things first, though, and God of War: Laufey has officially been scheduled in for a February 16, 2027 release date on PS5. That’s a little over six months away, which is not long of a wait at all!

Laufey was already previously confirmed to be shipping on a physical disc following PlayStation’s announcement of the end of disc production in 2028, but this date being in the year preceding also makes that extra certain.

As an added surprise during the same panel, head of creative at Santa Monica Studio, Cory Barlog has also confirmed to attendees (and now the wider internet) that Laufey will be followed up by another God of War game. This new title will once again star Kratos, and it will connect directly to Laufey’s story.

If you’d like a full recap of the God of War: Laufey SDCC 2026 panel, you can find a rundown over on IGN’s page.

There have not yet been any further announcements about any special editions of the game or other pre-order bits, but we’ll keep you informed as that happens!
