The August 2026 video game releases that you should know about

As we head closer and closer to a season of absolute chaos in the world of new video game releases, there’s already far too much to play and far too many hot-looking launches already at our doorstep.

Consider August 2026, a month in which we get a brand-new IP/gorgeous action RPG from Game Freak in Beast of Reincarnation, a future indie darling from the makers of Untitled Goose Game in the form of Big Walk, a third entry in an acclaimed series with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and how about that Star Wars Zero Company, eh??

And while I’ll probably be too busy trying to understand Aussie Rules football through the least-advisable example, Pro Jank Footy, to play them – the Switch 2 is nabbing new ports of two key titles this month – Elden Ring and Final Fantasy XIV. That’s a lot of role playing on the toilet in the weeks and months ahead, for some.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is officially back this month.
