Grand Theft Auto 6 physical copies will launch a week early but won't have a disc

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and with pre-orders finally live, we now know a little bit more about the state of the game’s release.

Alongside confirming a $129.95 price point for the standard edition of the game (or $159.95 for the “Ultimate” version with extra digital goodies), Rockstar Games has also revealed that physical copies of GTA 6 will not ship with a disc. Instead, this will be a code-in-the-box situation, presumably due to an exorbitant file size that would’ve created a headache for disc-based copies.

For those concerned about the potential time it will take to download and play the game at launch, thankfully the physical retail version will launch a week early on November 12, 2026, corresponding with the pre-load launch for digital pre-orders and allowing plenty of time to get prepped.
