The October 2026 video game releases that you should know about

With just over a month left until the impending behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto VI, we’ve got a stacked October 2026 to look forward to, with dozens upon dozens of games all vying for attention before that resource is completely sucked dry on November 12.

This month is packed to the rafters no matter where your interests may lie, with some heavy hitter titles like Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Planet Zoo 2, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Final Fantasy Resonance, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, Phantom Blade Zero and more all dropping over the coming weeks. If I missed a AAA title or two in there, no I didn’t.

Switch 2 owners looking to catch up on recent-ish bangers also have a lot to look forward to, with Capcom dropping a Resident Evil 2 / 3 / 4 triple feature and Square Enix giving Octopath Traveler / Octopath Traveler 2 the Switch 2 treatment, among a bunch of other relatively exciting ports for Nintendo’s more-capable hardware.

My personal, incredibly biased pick for October 2026 goes to Toy Story: Retro Roundup, a remaster collection of a bunch of my favourite childhood games. You can read my early preview out of Gamescom 2026 right here!
