Naughty Dog has teased two more The Last of Us projects and Intergalactic news in 2027

At the close of the annual The Last of Us Day festivities, Naughty Dog head, Neil Druckmann, has shared some crucial updates on what the studio is working on – including a tease of more The Last of Us projects in the pipeline.

Without explicitly spelling out whether or not the series is coming back in video game form, Druckmann let fans know (via a blog post) that there are not one but two new TLOU projects currently in their “very early stages” that will expand on the franchise canon beyond what we know of The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II.

“Since Grounded II, we’ve talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of The Last of Us,” the post reads.

“We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.

“The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling.”

The studio head also touched on updates from Intergalactic: The Heretic Project, Naughty Dog’s already-announced next major title. While the world was hoping to see some more of the game in recent State of Play broadcasts, it sounds like we’ll be waiting until 2027 for a proper, formal reveal of the game. In fact, Druckmann outright promises to “fully reveal” Intergalactic next year. Nice.

“The team is heads down on what is shaping up to be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet,” Neil reckons.

“There’s an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we’re stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory.

But…we need to cook for just a little bit longer.

“So we want to set expectations: we’re going to be quiet for the rest of this year. In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.

“We know it’s been a long time since we’ve had much to share with you. We don’t take your continued support for granted.

“We’re working incredibly hard to make something worthy of your patience.”

In the meantime, we have a new look at some very nice-looking imagery from the game courtesy of the post (and the header image of this very article). You can find the ultra-wide, ultra high resolution version right here.
