It’s been one of the videogame industry’s worst-kept secrets, but it’s finally confirmed that a remake of the well-loved Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is on the way, officially titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The confirmation comes by way of a larger update from the company on its portfolio of Assassin’s Creed titles, from newly-appointed Head of Content for the franchise, Jean Guesdon.
Returning to Assassin’s Creed after working on the series for a decade, spanning the original game through to Assassin’s Creed Origins, Guesdon addresses his desire to better give fans clarity and communicate the vision moving forward. And the first bit of that effort is an all-encompassing update on current and upcoming Assassin’s Creed games and media.
For starters, we’ve got the confirmation that 2025’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows will soon be moving into its “final phase of support” with fewer and smaller updates to the game as the team winds down work.
There’s also been very small updates on Codename HEXE, Codename INVICTUS and Assassin’s Creed Jade, all of which are namedropped here and confirmed to still be in development, with the acknowledgement that Ubisoft and the respective studios will remain pretty silent on them for now while work continues. Guesdon also makes mention of cancelled projects, including a co-op entry, but says that lessons learned there will inform other projects.
Fans of existing titles have reason to be excited too, with the underappreciated Assassin’s Creed Unity getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S tomorrow!
Of course, the juicy reveal here is the long-rumoured Black Flag revisit, which oddly isn’t outright named in Guesdon’s blog post, but instead confirmed with a single piece of artwork (above) and the below quote:
Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.“ Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.

Finally, the post also confirms that more news is on the way for the live-action Assassin’s Creed Netflix series, the cast of which was recently confirmed to include Tanzyn Crawford, Laura Marcus, Zachary Hart, Lola Petticrew and Toby Wallace.
