Square Enix has launched a playable demo for its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S ports of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is slated to launch quite soon on June 3, 2026.
The demo covers a fairly decent portion of the early game, allowing players to experience the first two chapters. That means the opening sequence where a younger Cloud and Sephiroth visit Nibelheim on a mission for SOLDIER and kick off events that would permeate the rest of the Final Fantasy VII timeline, as well as the present-day party’s first footsteps out into their new adventure across the Grasslands region. You’ll even get to experience the excellent Queen’s Blood card minigame.
Downloading and playing the demo will also reward you with bonuses for the full game, so there’s plenty of reasons to give it a go!
Doubly so for those interested in getting the game on the Switch 2, where the game has a lot to prove in terms of its performance on Nintendo’s new-generation machine. The good news is, having tried it out myself, it’s every bit as impressive as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was on the Switch 2 when it dropped in January.
