PlayStation Plus is getting a price increase for new subscribers

PlayStation has announced it’s increasing the price of its base PlayStation Plus Essential subscription, for new or resubscribing customers. The company made the announcement in a very short tweet, simply noting the increase which applies to all markets except Turkey and India, and will affect those signing up for the first time or anyone whose subscription has lapsed or changes from a different tier.

The new pricing, which starts on May 20, 2026 is:

New PlayStation Plus Essential pricing May 2026

  • PlayStation Plus Essential 1-month – AUD $14.95 / USD $10.99 / €9.99 EUR / £7.99
  • PlayStation Plus Essential 3-month – AUD $43.95 / USD $27.99 / €27.99 EUR / £21.99
  • PlayStation Plus Essential 12-month – AUD $112.95

We don’t have word just yet on Australia pricing but will update when that comes through. Thanks Press Start Australia for confirming new pricing in Australia!

PlayStation cites “ongoing market conditions” for this change. This follows a price hike on its console hardware last month.

“Starting May 20, PlayStation Plus prices for new customers will increase in select regions. Due to ongoing market conditions, prices will start at $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP for 1-month subscriptions and $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP for 3-month subscriptions.

“This price change does not apply to current subscribers (except in Turkey and India) unless the existing subscription changes or lapses.”
