Kingdom Come developer Warhorse is working on a Lord of the Rings RPG

Warhorse Studios, developer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its hugely well-received sequel, has confirmed ongoing rumours that one of its next projects is something in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe, formally announcing that it’s working on a new open-world RPG set in Middle-earth.

This is obviously exciting news for LOTR and fantasy RPG fans, as the studio has proven itself at crafting incredibly detailed, ambitious and reactive worlds that put the concept of “role-playing” front and centre, something that should hopefully make for a pretty incredible experience in the context of that franchise.

The studio simultaneously announced it’s also working on a new Kingdom Come adventure, following last year’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which went down a treat with critics and fans and earned a very nice 89 on Metacritic.

The news comes amidst some shake-ups in parent company Embracer, which has spun off Fellowship Entertainment into a completely new company, housing Warhorse along with a number of other high-profile studios including 4A Games, Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal and more, along with their relevant IP such as Dead Island, Metro, Tomb Raider and Darksiders.
