The Steam Controller officially went on sale today at 10AM PT / 6PM BST / 3AM AEST, but unless you were straight onto getting your order in, there’s a good chance you’ve already missed out.
The exact time that Steam ceased serving up orders for its shiny new PC gaming controller varies a bit depending on your region, and with sporadic bursts of it returning for those still paying attention, but as it stands currently the thing is sold out.
That’s a pretty huge effort for what is the release of, well, a controller, and one that sits well above the normal entry level asking price for a run-of-the-mill pad. Of course, the Steam Controller is anything but run-of-the-mill, but you’d better hope it’s capable of making your wildest dreams come true if you’re now deciding to turn to eBay listings in order to get your hands on one.
Scalpers are having a field day already with listings asking for at least double what the controller went for officially. Here are some screenshots of hopefully Australian ‘resellers’ and their eBay items:

There’s no word yet on when the Steam Controller might be back on the Steam storefront for purchase again, but here’s hoping it’s not far off. We’re expecting our review unit to arrive very soon so we should be able to give you a better idea of what makes it so special soon enough!
