Typically, the best way to save money on a video game console is simply to wait for a price drop, at the very least a big, seasonal sale. But with technology price now trending upwards over time with the state of the global market, that’s no longer always true. Consoles like the PS5 have gone up in RRP multiple times now, and there’s a growing anxiety that the same could happen to Nintendo’s new flagship Switch 2.
So, that all said, there’s currently a decent way to grab the Nintendo Switch 2 in Australia at a discount, and bundled with some handy extras – with one catch.
EB Games, purveyors of video games, consoles, accessories and pop culture merch destined to eventually find its way into our oceans, is running a sale on the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart Bundle, dropping the price from its regular $769 to a much more attractive $699 and throwing in the official Nintendo Switch 2 camera worth $69 on its own.
That’s the console, the digital copy of a near-essential Switch 2 exclusive game, and the official camera accessory for the same price as the RRP on just the console alone.
Given the market trajectory right now, I’d say this could be a great time to jump in, but there is that caveat I mentioned earlier. To take advantage of this deal, you’ll need to be subscribed to EB Games’ paid “EB World Plus” membership, effectively locking the price behind a $49-a-year paywall.
If you’re already subbed, fantastic, it’s all yours. If not, there are three options. Either fork out for 12 month membership and hope for future deals that make it pay off in the long run, or pay the non-member price for the same deal, which is $729 – only $30 more and honestly still not a bad deal.
