PlayStation has announced a pair of follow-ups to its excellent PlayStation Pulse Elite gaming headset, with the new PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset set to release this “holidays” in select markets and the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset set to release early next year.
First launched in 2024, the Pulse Elite remains one of my go-to headsets for PS5 with its crisp-sounding planar magnetic drivers and the ease of PlayStation Link connectivity. These new entries continue on the great features of that headset in a sleek new design geared for better comfort and longevity, as well as better portability with rotating ear cups.
Both headsets sport Tempest 3D AudioTech and larger planar magnetic drivers than the original Pulse Elite, meaning you should still get that crisp, spatially-accurate sound but now noticeably more powerful and deep. The new Pulse has four magnets per planar driver, while the Pulse Edge has eight, making it the superior choice for audio quality.
In terms of microphones, the Pulse has an integrated mic receiver on the ear cup, while the Pulse Edge has a detachable boom mic, both which offer AI Noise Rejection as did the original Pulse Elite.
But with a significant “edge,” the Pulse Edge offers a few features that the base model doesn’t, such as active noise cancellation, built-in game/chat audio balance on PS5, a carrying case and integrated audio/microphone jack.

Here’s a comparison from the PlayStation Blog:
